Here is a Muppet News Flash

We interrupt the normal schedule of multi-part Monday posts with this important announcement for all who love the Muppets.

Muppets Most Wanted is in theaters and barely breaking even.

Fellow fans, we need to get people flocking to see this if we want the Muppet tradition to continue.

2011’s The Muppets brought them back into the public eye, but it was far more of a tribute than a true Muppet film.  It worked fine as an introduction to all there is to love about the Muppets, made by those who remembered and understood.

The original Muppet performers brought a unique brand of performance to their characters.  It created a Pop Cultural Vaudeville style, where heartwarming interactions between lovable characters always maintained a subversive, off the wall edge, and any plot thread was handily shifted out of the way for a funny non-sequiter, random explosion or a group of penguins.

With most of the original gang gone, recapturing that achievement would be almost impossible.

This is why the Muppets are joined in this outing by a giant pile of insane in the best possible way performers from all over the entertainment world to help pull off their classic shtick.

In other words, Muppets Most Wanted is a REAL Muppet Movie.
I can give it no higher praise.

If we want to get more of them, we need to start seriously spreading the word.

Or we may never see the likes of Danny Trejo and Ray Liotta together in a musical number again.

This is very BAD NEWS. Where are all the people who loved the Muppets? I had no idea it wasn't doing well. It deserves to be a gigantic hit. Not only for the nostalgia of the Muppets but for how fantastic a movie it is. I was hysterical with the guest star skits and especially with the Muppets themselves. It was silly, joyous, and wonderfully entertaining. There was an abundance of laughs all the way through for children and adults alike. I don't go to many movies but I wouldn't miss this one and am glad I didn't. Go see the Muppets Most Wanted

Thanx to both of you. And I love you too kiddo.

Well, there you have it. Three generations of McGinley Muppet recommendations. How could anyone argue with that.

And in case anyone is interested: We're right about the new Lone Ranger being awesome too.
