The Icons They are a
Changing. The Tower of Terror had
already taken over from the now gone Sorcerer Hat in MGM. Now an image of the four parks shows Everest
instead of the Tree of Life. Don’t know if that’s a hint of something bigger or
a temporary measure while they gear up Discovery Island for the new nighttime
show where they project stuff on the tree.

Baymax joined the EPCOT character spot without FastPass, posted line times or
any of his friends and co-stars. I guess they paid a lot for that suit.

page-a-day calendars. Hoping to find
Star Wars or insulting comedy. A Jungle Book cover led to an unintended
Disney one chosen on a trip year…again.

Good news: Those villain
parties at MGM proved the baddies are a big hit!
Bad News: They’re using them in a $99 a pop Villain Club
special events in that MGM Sunset Showcase for special dining, dancing and
meet and greet purposes.

replaced by Kylo Ren in both regular and Disney Visa meet and greets at
MGM. There goes a great Christmas card
idea down the toilet.

MGM to close Honey I
Shrunk the Kids Playground, the Car Stunt Show and a restaurant we are equally
unlikely to notice having never been in any of them. The earful tower is going too. I wonder if the Millennium Falcon or
something will be the new park symbol. I
guess the likelihood of going back to a name based on another movie studio is
dwindling rapidly.

Indiana Jones Stunt
Spectacular is 25 years old and still going strong when whole other sections of
the park have been repurposed and retooled.
Living proof that explosions are fun, and Nazis are the best bad guys.

Mickey’s Christmas party days soon because I feel quite guilty every day I

the Lion Guard Scavenger hunt. Another collect stamps kind of thing. Maybe it
replaces the Up based one from last
time? The end tries to lure gusts to
Rafiki’s planet watch, but we will be strong.

Increased impressiveness
of the Star Wars night fireworks at MGM announced. Also Star Wars shows at center stage and a
procession of Captain Phasma and Stormtroopers take the place of the Frozen stuff there. Queen Elsa’s coup has finally been stopped by
the First Order.

for refurbishment on our upcoming visit.
The line for that one is cramped and annoying anyway.

Fast Pass Plus changes
kick in to add flexibility. We don’t
have to pick all 3 at once now - which probably doesn’t affect us with Grid Man
here doing the set up. But, now you can
add new ones on after the first three are used from a smartphone. Sounds like
we’ll be squeezing our first three into the morning hours whenever possible. Great…more running.

Animal Kingdom was to add
a buttload of parties, Rivers of Light show, nighttime safaris and all manner
of other things to keep the park open as late as the other three today, but
it’s been delayed till mid-May. That
doesn’t help as I do believe new gridding strategy will be called for yet
again.

Free dining plan finally
announced for the fall…
Except now you NEED a
park hopper ticket, and they’ve blacked out most of the time during the food
and wine festival. New plan needed once
again.

These ticketed events
are out of control. Magic Kingdom Tuesday and Saturday mornings (fortunately
not replacing Extra Magic Hours) offer $70 a pop, limited seating breakfast in
the Pinocchio Village house and the ability to ride Snow White’s Mine Train,
Winnie the Pooh, and Peter Pan before the park opens. Guess Tuesday isn’t Magic Kingdom day…Saturday
never was anyway.

No Weeeee! for me. Hulk roller coaster under maintenance on our
trip. (Oh wait, it’s under maintenance now.
Disney is also better than Universal at website clarity.)
