Anabelle and Daddy Ad-veeeeen-tures! Yeah! *Jazz Hands* Day 4 -July 22

Highly Zoological

With today being the official Sixth Anniversary of this blog, a detailed account of the Bronx Zoo is fitting.

The goal of the Anabelle and Daddy Adveeeeeen-tuuuures! Yeah! *Jazz Hands* was for my daughter and I to share time on our own. Yet the trip to the Bronx Zoo occurred with my sister, her kids and my Mom as well.

There is a perfectly sensible reason for this.

George Awards: A Stack of Dimes

Warning
This post contains bad, foul, filthy and unacceptable language - the words that “will curve your spine, grow hair on your hands and maybe, even bring us, God help us, peace without honor.”

This is not a post for children.  Kids, take a hike.
This is also not a post for those adults who are offended by this type of language.  Do yourself a favor, and go read some of my cute stuff before moral outrage can kick in.
Just about everything else on this blog is clean…Stupid sometimes, but clean.
End of Warning.

Anabelle and Daddy Ad-veeeeen-tures! Yeah! *Jazz Hands* Day 3 -July 21

Basket (Cases) Indeedy-ent

This evening started the first official musically titled
“Anabelle and Daddy Ad-veeeeen-ture! Yeah! *Jazz Hands*”

But first I needed to spend another day of panicked set up in work.
I learned that my twenty plus years of experience in risk analysis didn’t matter much once the day rolled past about three thirty.  At that stage of the afternoon I simply couldn’t FMEA anymore.

Many years ago, my ability to compose song parodies for sales meetings at work prompted a request from Customer Service.

One of the women working there asked me to help write a poem to be read along with the presentation of the end of the year thank you gift for the teachers.

So here it is:

Anabelle and Daddy Ad-veeeeen-tures! Yeah! *Jazz Hands* Day 2 -July 20

Training, Plans and Autoreplies

Not counting the day before Rosa’s flight, this started three weeks in a row I would be in the office for only two days. While the concept of hyperextended weekends looked fantastically relaxing on paper, pulling a hat trick of packing a week’s worth of work into half the time was no such thing.

Teacher Tributes: English

Since I can still occasionally form a complete sentence, I clearly don’t have enough parallel paths running through my brain at this point.

Therefore it’s time to begin a new category here at Dog Food For Chairs.

The idea of acknowledging teachers that had a positive impact on the formation of my current regeneration has been bouncing around in my noodle for a while, and I have a sizeable list that deserves credit.  The only reason I haven’t started them sooner is being unable to figure out which of those helpful influences to begin with.

Based on how much of my life I currently spend writing for this thing, starting with Language Arts (or English for the crusty old people in the crowd like me) works as an acceptable starting point. Plus it lets me be silly for a bit beforehand.

Anabelle and Daddy Ad-veeeeen-tures! Yeah! *Jazz Hands* Day 1- July 19

Air Line Travails

While Anabelle was stuck home suffering from the plague that passed through our family early in the summer before the Central Park trip, she started marathoning Chopped.

Positive side effects included her, and all of us, increasing our interest and knowledge of cooking, leading to tastier experiments from everyone in our home.

Negative side effects included letting her stay up too late, and pausing on final packing for Rosa and Abuelita’s trip to Peru  to see how the heck they were going to work duck bills into a recipe.

Holy Nostalgia!

It’s about time to give in to my temptations of inappropriate subject matter that raises its ugly if humorous head every year-ish.

But before we go there, a tip of the cowl needs to be given to some awesomeness for the whole family.

DC's live action films have long been focused on the Dark in Dark Knight for Batman.

Similarly, the animated features have been moving away from anything resembling Bat-silliness in more recent times.

However, for Bat-fans like myself with a sense of humor, the wait is over.
