Is whimsy the right word for a man being assaulted by his own possessed hand and fouled mouthed killer puppets?

Perhaps not.

But whatever the fun element of the originals was, the trailers showed no evidence.

Good Oscar Night for Horror, No?

Del Toro's  Frankenstein scored a bunch of recognition at awards night this year! Vampires in the form of Sinners did so to an even greater extent. That film also grabbed the public consciousness and I am so glad it did.

Of Different Men The Same Woman and Modified Monsters

I was already late on this one, therefore I delayed even further in talking about Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein. (It got a tiny theatrical release in 2025 to meet Oscar requirements, but is mainly on Netflix.) This way it is now almost exactly fifteen years since one of my earliest posts concerning the differences between the original Mary Shelly written novel, and men's interpretations of that tale. I am not behind schedule, I am planning commemorations.

The Second Wednesday

 

I very much enjoyed the second season of Wednesday on Netflix.

However, I had to constantly remind myself that it was Tim Burton's interpretation of the Addams Family comic strip and NOT an updated version of my beloved Addams Family television show.

I've never been a fan of the comic series the Marvel Zombies TV show was based on. However, I had two days before The Witcher season four premier, and needed something to watch.

The Bride of Halloween Music Trivia

I obsess way too much about both horror films and novelty music to have gotten every song I thought of into last years list. 

As usual, there will be a ridiculous amount of other trivial information written into the questions, many of which have two parts. Plus, they all have a bonus question (which may have two parts as well), because I can't help myself. Feel free to give yourself one point for each part. Heck, give yourself however many points you want for each part. It's not like there are awards, and I'm certainly not keeping count. I'd like to think if there was going to be comparisons with anyone else, everyone would use the same scoring method out of basic human decency. 

On second thought, just stick to one point each.

 Well, that took a while didn't it?

I was intrigued by the idea of a horror superhero film when this was first announced to be released in 2018. Also, while I didn't collect the New Mutants comics themselves, I was always a fan of the group when they guest starred in stories I was reading.

Sure, the Alien prequel films were cool and scary... and weird. 

But its nice to see the franchise returning to its roots, in two separate mediums.

First off, Alien Romulus.

A day may come when I remember that this movie came out BEFORE Mothra...

But this is not that day.

This film reunites the Five Fathers of Godzilla:

Director- Honda, Producer- Tanaka, Music- Ifukube, Effects- Tsuburaya, Suit- Nakajima.

Plus Godzilla favorite actors Kenji Sahara as Traumatized Engineer 

and

Akihiko Hirata (sans eye patch this time) as Concerned Paleontologist.

The overall story and action is really well done and we get a Predator like genre shift. 

(Granted its more of a subtle shift from normal horror to Kaiju, but still, a shift.)
