Moving Out

In the near infinite parade of suck we've had passing us this year, one of the biggest is Danceworks' Moving Company being cancelled, as no rest home of rehab center in their right mind will gather their residents in groups to see visiting strangers.

Monday, February 22, 2021 Star Wars: Episode VIII

When I first saw Guardians of the Galaxy I said it proved Disney could make a good Star Wars movie. Rewatching The Last Jedi I realized, in the immortal words of Force Ghost Ben Kenobi,
"I was wrong."

The Subtleties of Road House

Way back in the spring of last year, I upgraded to Blu Ray and rewatched Road House.

My intent was to write a post about the "Forgotten Awesomeness of Road House."

While not approaching The Electric Company levels of delay, clearly something prevented me from getting my thoughts together to write that.

It finally hit me what the issue was.

No one who has seen Road House can forget how awesome it is.

Yes, I'm Going to Talk About "Kids Baking Championship"

We watch a lot of Food Network in our house.  It started back with Chopped marathons when we all had the plague after Memorial Day, the first summer without Up the Lake.

Anabelle has continued watching a huge variety of culinary shows.

Monday, February 8, 2021 Star Wars: Episode VI

This is as good a point as any to point out the awesomely insane subtitles on the special edition 2006 Star Wars DVDs that were the last opportunity to get the unedited, original forms of the Classic Trilogy.  They spell out individual beeps, whistles, grunts, growls, words in alien languages, Chewie's Tarzan yell and Threepio's entire speech to the Ewoks to really add to the experience.

Clone Wars Season Seven

Disney Plus not only returned us to glorious old school style live action Star Wars with The Mandalorian it allowed the crack creative team to end the excellent animated Clone Wars series properly with a final season.

Monday, February 1, 2021 Star Wars: Episode V

I think one of the reasons this film is so highly regarded is that in 1980, it WAS the expanded universe. Star Wars  blew everyone away, and we all wanted more. It wasn't like now where there are piles of books, films, shows, patterned underwear, etcetera to carry on the story. This was the first, deeper look into the world we'd been entranced by.
