Chadwick Forever!

Marvel had a problem. The star of its most successful solo superhero film passed away.

His story was weaved throughout the team up films as well.

How did they handle it?
Excellently as always.

Delayed Patrol

Wow! Two Good DC reviews in a row and neither are animated.
Is the tide turning at last?
(Given last week's Warner's news...I guess not.
And now Henry Cavill's return as Superman isn't happening.
I mean, I'm no fan of the Snyderverse in general, but it had some great casting,
and Cavil is at the top of that list. He was an amazing Superman and Clark with a good script.
Does this mean we lost him as the Witcher for nothing? Grrrr.)

A Movie That Took So Long To Get Made It Influenced The Source Material

Yes, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been trying to get a Black Adam feature made for an extensive period of time, leading to the artists starting to draw the character resembling him in the comics.

New Who Views- Jodie’s Term Ending With Power

Here’s some random thoughts about the Centennial special.
Thanks to my complete coincidence powers, the 49th Anniversary of Doctor Who was yesterday...and the three of us watched this one again as a family!.

One would think with Thanksgiving ALWAYS on Thursday, I would be able to plan better for that theme. Then again, Doctor Who Day is always this time of year, and no one who knows me should be surprised where my loyalties really lie.

It was Savagely Sensational

I realize I am way behind on a boatload of reviews.

The upside of this is that means it doesn't matter what order I do them in, or if there are spoilers.

I had a blast watching She Hulk  for many reasons.

The Creature Walks Among Us Through a "Kid's" Eyes

We finished watching the Universal Monsters collection (Or at least the large portion of it I own) with the last Gill-man flick on the 66th Anniversary of that movie's release.

Back on "Alien Day," April 26, 2022.

It is possible planning this blog too far ahead messes up any anniversary celebrations.

Disney World 2022 Planning- Part 1

Jeff’s Disney World Philosophy-
These sections will be more of a “why” than a “what” reflections on our Disney life. In this case-
Yes, these planning documentation posts are insanely overdone and have a lot more in them then just planning. This is because:
A) Our family is continually in Disney Planning mode with multiple influences
And
B) Family meetings (and my own opinion) determined that Disney Days cannot be separated into multiple posts because it messes up the flow and the running gags. Each day can run five to six times the size of a normal post. Therefore, It requires a great deal of time to create and review them. I need to sleep too, you know.

Denver 2022 day 10: May 13- The Final Ride of the Ugly Monkey

Happy Halloween!
But- being spooky on Halloween is for amateurs. See multiple posts before and after this one (or really any time) for horror movies.

Abbot and Costello Meet the Mummy Through a "Kid's" Eyes

Honestly, I could have skipped posting about the Abbot and Costello films.
There aren't any running comments as we were too busy laughing and this one especially doesn't fit the continuity of the main series at all.

"Morbin-Time" Joke Free Zone

A movie review continuing my trend of hopelessly late ones.

Since the vast majority didn't like it, and made fun of it mercilessly.
And I had things to do.
And, y'know...plague.

I didn't see Morbius in the theater.

Since I know me, however, I pre-ordered the Blu-Ray sight unseen.

And it was the right move.

Matrix Refurbishings

I reviewed this when the blu ray disc came out. (Yes I'm old, I like discs...and I can still watch them when the internet goes down, you rotten kids.)
Then a million "important" things premiered.  Its been pushed off so often I'm not sure when it is posting anymore.

Executive Summary: I would have preferred my self created Tron/Matrix/Terminator (and a bunch of other stuff) cross over, but I liked this one.

Denver 2022 day 6: May 9- The Ugly Monkey Rides South

An early rising was needed for the full day at Garden of the Gods. It was not as early as we originally thought, however, as traffic and other issues made us think it was a two hour trip when it was closer to one.

Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein Through a "Kid's" Eyes

This is where it all started for me. Horror comedies are my favorite genre, and this is he grand-daddy of them all.
"Of course they're all here," said Rosa during the credits.

Real Rocky in a Rocky Versus Real Redux

Confession time-
My weekend night video game relaxation has almost exclusively been playing Fight Night Champion for a long time.

Yes, open world games are more immersive, but they also take a lot more concentration and remembering what was going on, sometimes adding to stress instead of reducing it.

I've been reading books and websites on boxing, leading to saving up ideas for which match-ups to do on the weekend, then blowing off the week's steam on this game. That leads to wanting to read more books and websites on boxing the next week, and the cycle continues.

Denver 2022 day 1: May 4- The Ugly Monkey Revealed

Anabelle completed her first year at Villanova. (Stellarly! Woo!)
Due to having projects and papers instead of final exams, even though her tests and classes finished the previous week, we went to pick her up after work Monday night.

A Textbook Case of How to do a Great Adaptation

Neil Gaiman waited several DECADES for the proper medium, technology and creative control to make a live action adaptation of the Sandman series. In that time he worked on other adaptations to learn what he needed to.

And the result is freakin' brilliant on all levels.

The Mummy's Curse Through a "Kid's" Eyes

The last of the original Mummy films.

For anyone who thought the whole idea of a slow moving killer going from movie to movie following one story line and killing those who survived the previous film started with Eighties slasher stories...
Nope, Kharis and friends did it back in the Forties.

Granted all four of these movies are only an hour long. That likely means, if you took out the recaps, it's just about enough material for two films today.  Still I feel I was harsh at first stating the Mummy sequels really dropped in quality. These are all fun, and the continuing storyline through four films is impressive.

Wrestling Moments: WrestleMania XX, March 14 2004- Madison Square Garden

I saw this moment well after the fact,
and even weller after the days I watched wrestling in my youth.
Therefore it shouldn't count as part of this list.
But it will, for "reasons."

I caught it on an "Undertaker's Greatest Matches" show before all the wrestling stuff vanished off of Netflix when the WWE (and everyone else in the world) made their own streaming service.

Not a Miss but a Marvel

I was not the target audience for this show...

and that's fine.

I still enjoyed it a great deal because it was set in a world where they know me well.

Wrestling Moments: Summerslam 1992, August 29, 1992- Wembley Stadium

It should be clear at this point that I am, and ever have been, an old softie. Three of these moments are finishes that looked like they would create or amplify feuds, but instead led to reconciliations.

I love a happy ending.

House of Frankenstein Through a "Kid's" Eyes

The first of the big "Monster Mash" films with the Big Three, plus some other familiar looking references.

We almost went out of order here in this three movie year, because Rosa wanted to know how the heck the Mummy returned again.

Boris Karloff is back! This time he's a human "monster," the mad scientist Doctor Neimann
And he is awesome and terrifying without any Jack Peirce masterpiece glued to cover his whole face.

Wrestling Moments: WrestleMania VIII- April 5 1992 Hoosier Dome (Indiana)

Hey, remember back in the index when I said I didn't know which two moments would be replaced by ones I'd talked about before?

I lied, it's this one and the next one.

GOAT CHARIOT!!!!!!!

Thor becomes the first MCU character to have four solo films.

Lucky thing they left his arc incomplete after Endgame.

Once more planning ahead in general means my reviews are late, therefore I will not worry about spoilers.

Wrestling Moments: WrestleMania VII, March 24 1991- Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena 2

After a brief anniversary break comes a reminder that, while some of the wrestling moments that stuck with me were highly emotional, such as the last one from this very WrestleMania, many others I remember for being silly.

Very few moments reached the heights of silly that this "blindfold match" did, and that includes the build up.

Let's start with the participants:

Favorite Movie of Every Year I've Been Alive

I thought this would be a cool celebration of my 1200th post!
And it is!
Because I still can't read a calendar.
It was very nearly a cool celebration of my 1199th post.

Anabelle deserves thanx for helping me with this in two ways.
1) She'd ask what film I put for a year or if I included a specific movie and I'd forget what I said, making me look up the year again and finding films I missed.
2) She reminded me I could adjust publish dates after I set them up, meaning after an incredibly late night of shifting post times and cross references this one IS for #1200!

Background- People on a Facebook movie group were listing
"My favorite movie that came out each year I was alive."

It took me much longer to do this than most of the younger folks in the group.
With that kind of time investment, I get to put it here.

Wrestling Moments: WrestleMania VII, March 24 1991- Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena 1

As Hulk Hogan predicted (and pretty much helped along) The Ultimate Warrior could not sustain the popularity Hogan had as the WWF Champion.

Hogan again took the title at WrestleMania VII, the same night the Warrior won what may have been his greatest match ever...

Under conditions that made absolutely NO ONE care about his triumph, and made the entire wrestling world focus on what happened after he left the ring.
