HAWKEYE!!!! WOO HOO!

Back in my first Avengers reviews I mentioned that the West Coast franchise of that group was a gateway into comic collecting for me.  I also mentioned that Clint Barton was my favorite character.

I Didn't Know Thats- Christmas Edition

Every year when we put up the Christmas tree, we watch the Rankin-Bass Classics.

Since it was an only once a year viewing, we never bothered to upgrade from the old VHS tapes of the shows. There was a period where we had burned the tapes onto a DVD and used that.

Then the disc stopped working, plus we lost it.

Spider-man- No Way! (I expected it to feel this much like coming) Home!

I like to stay spoiler free for new film reviews when I can.

WOW!  That was crazy- awesome. It's not in competition with the Spider-verse films as I expected, because this is a different animal. it was more of a love letter to Spidey films in general than an examination of vastly different alternate realities. It satisfactorily closed elements of several franchises, and set up where the current franchise could  go next.

Outstandingly emotional on multiple levels.

Christmas Village 2021

The Lovers, The Dreamers and America's Highly Trained Special Mission Force
Or...
Fifteen Seconds to Curtains- For Cobra

Wow, we've reached the fourteenth holiday battle following the same theme every time.
You'd think I'd run out of ideas by now...
And you'd be right.

Thanx to Anabelle for suggesting this when she cleared her other figures out of the way to make room for the Marvel Legends Twelve Days of Christmas.

On with the story...'cause there's always a story.

Late to the Shang Chi Party

I am embarrassingly behind in watching movies.

This has nothing to do with the current worldwide unpleasantness.  We saw Encatno in the theater as a family when Anabelle was on break. It was magnificent and we had a fantastic time together.

I think the key issue is the feeling of:
"I value the excitement of a theater (preferably opening night) as a shared experience on a big screen with surround sound"
has lately been surpassed by the importance of the feeling of:
"I value being old and grouchy and not wanting to go anywhere."

The advantage is- I don't feel bad about the occasional spoiler thrown in.

On to Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Jeff The Landshark's 12 Days of Christmas- by Anabelle

HO
HO HO everyone and welcome to the Christmas Festivities! I am your host, Jeff the Landshark  - the superior of all Marvel Legends Figures. Today I would like to show you my favorite Christmas song, with a little Marvel Legends twist!! (with help from Anabelle trying to destress before her finals of course)
For your own mental sanity, let’s just skip to the twelfth day. If you want to sing this fully at home to irritate everyone you probably know how to figure out each day working backwards yourself.
😃 Let’s GO!

New Who Views: The Latest Season- What? The Flux.

Under normal circumstances I could have started writing about the most recent season of Doctor Who in detail while it was ongoing, and then filled in final details following the last episode.

No such luck.

Disclaimer: I liked this season the most out of all three under this team, and actually enjoyed it objectively. I thought it felt like Doctor Who. But once I thought of that post title, I couldn't not use it.

Old Guy Game Guides- Arkham City

Ten years one month and one week after release date is about right for me to review a video game.  (Therefore I will not be overly concerned with spoilers.)

Back when I learned I'd have zero commute for a while, I was debating whether or not to get a new open world game to pass some of the time when I'd be less exhausted than usual.

I couldn't play Skyrim, because after an exciting start I ended up with too much stuff to carry, no place to sell it, and not enough gold to buy a house, stalemating myself.  My original plan was to reply Assassin's Creed II. My wife pointed out a stellar counter argument.

"But then you won't get to be Batman."

Am I lucky or what?

New Who Views- The Broadchurch Connection

My wife watched Broadchurch when it was first on.  (She thinks she watched all of it, but isn't sure...this is common in our home, and keeps fun surprises in our lives.)

It's not my normal type of show but the cast looked interesting.  Anabelle watched it recently and talked about the huge Doctor Who crossover. She then let me know that it was leaving Netflix in less than a month and I needed to hurry so we could talk about it.

Being a responsible parent, I did...and it gave me a much better understanding of the current state of Doctor Who under Chris Chibnall.

Some Comics for the Season...that ended a while ago.

I probably should have done this last month, but frankly monsters and stuff are important in my life year round.

X-Bits 1

I decided to rewatch the X-men film franchise again while exercising. Frankly, at this point I can’t help myself when it comes to commenting on things, and I might as well use it to fill space.

It’s yet another addiction in my life.

Two Seasons of Stargirl

The second season of the Stargirl Television series ended.

Therefore, I'm going to talk about comic books.

This should not be a surprise anymore.

Up the Lake- Cards Part 3

By this point, our group of “kids” was older, and the total number of campers was thinned out further, giving us more firsthand experiences of the “grown up” game play. Besides standards of five card draw and seven card stud, I learned the rules of a couple new gambling pastimes well before playing poker while confusing Nick’s friends with drunken explanations of laser powered spacecraft.

What If... The MCU Kept Getting More and More Like the Comics.

I've been a big fan of the What If comic series for most of my comic collecting life. There have been several runs and I have favorite stories in all of them.

Up the Lake- Cards Part 2

The other game I haven’t played since its official summer wasn’t due to a conscious choice, or mental damage.

The game ... was Spoons.

The Tingler Through a Kid’s Eyes

It’s Halloween time, so lets make with a monster movie!

I was going to point out the real monsters were those with influence, almost all of whom are vaccinated (often by their company's mandate),  telling others to take a stand against a safe and effective method of promoting public health and safety for the greatest number of people (used since the 1800’s, and how our society gets rid of diseases, including viruses) for their own gain.

I could also point out that requiring vaccines is much closer to having traffic laws than any kind of rights infringement. I've had (some relatively new, at the time) vaccines mandated at my job just to VISIT cardiac cath labs, never mind work in healthcare.  And those were to protect others, not myself, like the masks doctors wear are. Kind of like how they recommend flu shots for those in contact with people more at risk from the illness. (Recommend vs require, because the flu is much less deadly than Covid.)

But, It was our 20th anniversary earlier this week, and I'm taking off tomorrow...
Because I can't read a calendar.
I love you Rosa.
Therefore, I’d rather have fun instead of getting myself angry again.

But before the fun: Get vaccinated, and wear a mask inside in crowds. It's not all about you, its about everyone working together to reduce the statistical likelihood of those who can't fight it on their own getting it.  Just because some rules / behaviors don't make sense, it doesn't invalidate the statistical reduction of the methods. "Being brave and free" by refusing vaccines and masks is the same as "being brave and free" by running all the red lights. There's a reasonable chance you'll be OK, but the statistical likelihood of you, or more importantly someone else, ending up hospitalized or dead is much greater.

Anyway- Back to fun!

The Return of Muppet Mirth and Mayhem

I have gone on at length (or perhaps overlength) about the importance of the classic Muppets.

I have also griped, grouched and complained about recent Muppet versions not being true to the classic vision.

Come and HELP the Garden Grow (Again)

For those who don't need my personal pep talk to help the Magic Garden come back, or don't care about my random babbling about how much the show meant to me, click the banner under the blog subtitle above, or the show's title here, they go straight to their funding site.

The Magic Garden was as important a part of my (and many others') childhood as Sesame Street or the Electric Company.

And now we all have a chance to help bring it back in an adorable animated form.

Family Fairytale Foolishness

I had plans to delve into my Minecraft world creation as a short filler post. Looking over the years of obsessions with decorative tunnelling in both my creative and survival worlds, any hopes of "short" vanished immediately.

Then I remembered my nephew's Minecraft story. When I went looking for it, I found his "fractured fairy tale" instead,  which is a much better representative of showing the family genes shining through.  It has Minecraft references too.

He wrote this in second grade.  N-joy!!!

E-Space Trilogy Through A Kid’s Eyes Part 2

Wow! I post about Doctor Who for the first time in over a year and they announce Russell T. Davies return as show runner for the 60th Anniversary in 2023!  Woo!

(No I do not think they are connected, my life is not quite that timey whimey.)

Like most fans I was initially excited thinking about what elements of that great era he could bring back.  Then I thought more, and realized while he is a fan of the classic series, and referenced it, his run had a great focus on brining in new elements and interpretations. And now I'm even more excited.

It'll be worth the wait, but now it's time to get back to the Tom Baker years.

As the definition of “kid” stretches further and further, here’s a new way of showing Anabelle's responses to things.

The (Very) Good Doctor

It's not often that someone with as little reach as I have can start a book review with, "I was talking to the author, " but the future is a weird place, and Twitter allows that kind of thing to happen far more easily than back in my youth. (Or "the stone age" as my daughter calls it.)

I met Tito Santana...TWICE!

And I think that's a cool way to celebrate post 1111.

I have been meaning to write more about Professional Wrestling in multiple serieses(es) of posts covering books, video games and memorable moments.  Since, for me, all of those would begin with Tito Santana, I need to start here.

Clone Wars Episode Guide- Bad Batch Season One

Clone Force 99 got a pilot run in the recent Season Seven of Clone Wars although there were hints of their possibility way back in Season 3. Now they have a new series all their own starting at the end of the Prequel Trilogy.

Transforrmers Closes the New Time Loop

Netflix released the final part of their Transformers War For Cybertron Trilogy:  KINGDOM.

Yeah, spoilers are coming.
We Transformers nerds watched it all already, and the rest of the world doesn't care.

Holy ...Crap, I Don't Have Time For This. Again.

There's a new Transformers show!

I saw Suicide Squad!

There's a Godzilla Movie and TV Show that needs to be added to the Litany!

I met my favorite professional wrestler...a second time!

But no. Because I'm "the Comic Book Guy" and because there are overly sensitive, clueless people getting their spandex knickers in a twist about comics they likely do not read, I have to stop and explain this.

Mastered by the Universe

I had many writings planned out to work on one evening after I finished some chores.

Then, either the very rotten branch that fell on my head bounced onto the ground yellowjacket nest, or I coincidentally hit the nest with the weed eater when surprised by the blow.

Either way, yard work sucks.

And yes, I should have a camera crew follow me around since my life  has gone beyond simply providing comedy material and now often resembles episodes of Mr. Bean.

Therefore instead of my planned writing activity I watched the released first part of the initial season of Kevin Smith's Masters of the Universe Revelations.

And it was entertaining. Woo!
