Dad Lore- Number 1
These are all a "weird flex" tales- moments of pride or an oddly presented compliment that were in anomalous situations, or unlikely manners.
All three happened after I had moved into my condo and was still young, but established at work.
The title comes Anabelle referring to anything from my past she hasn't heard about as
"Dad Lore."
Here's the first

SHAZAM Fury of the Gods Was... Ok?
(Apologies, Anabelle has threatened me with grievous bodily harm if I do any more "boogaloo" jokes.)

Good Omens Two Good Too!
The first season of Good Omens told a complete story based on a single novel. It was excellent and self contained.

DC Plays to its Strengths in Blue Beetle
DC films have been all over the place. They've screwed up a considerable number of them, and even the ones they've done well have their own errors, used characters that let them dip partially into where DC shines without full embracing it, or have leaned on the ones they've screwed up to continue trends.
Until Now!

A Little Hop of Showers
That title would have worked better if it rained. Then again, the day wouldn't have.
It certainly has been the summer of funny stage tragedies for us. This one was planned further in advance ,however. Earlier in the summer, Anabelle and Rosa had a "Manhattan Day" to go see a Yayoi Kusama exhibit.

The First Geralt's Last Ride
Explanation: I have never liked
super deformed or caricature figures, funkos included. However, there was
something about the Witcher ones that captured the spirit of the show. I kept
seeing them on sale but never all 4 of the main characters at once. Without
knowing any of this, for Father’s Day, Anabelle (having heard his songs in the
car and me talking about how funny he was) got me the Jaskier one as a joke
along with a note saying she’d watch the series I’ve been telling her she’d
like with me. Therefore I “NEEDED” to order the other three. She helped me pick
the coolest looking ones.
Translation- Not only have I watched The Witcher season three, but I watched the whole show again from the beginning with Anabelle.

A Very Public Secret Invation
Secret Invasion was only six episodes long, and yet it has provided me with huge amounts of confusion, none of which was related to the story itself.

Teacher Tributes: Instrumental Music
There are few things in life that give a feeling of greater accomplishment as part of a group as being in a band when everything is clicking.
There are also few things that provide as good an example of how important teachers are to students enjoying what they're doing and learning as my time playing the saxophone.

It's Only a Model... Shhhhhhh.
"Not knowing a thing exists,"
to
"Mourning the fact that others won't be able to experience the outstanding talent, thought provoking content and emotion now that a thing is over."

Dialing to Destiny Once More
(Oh and there will be spoilers, because I'm tired and can't control myself.)
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was definitely the worst of the Indiana Jones films...
But it was still an Indiana Jones film.

Clone Wars Episode Guide- Bad Batch Season Two
This is getting out of hand.
I didn't expect a bonus season and two spin offs when I started this.
I was cheating to use the lists I'd written to help teen aged Anabelle pick which Clone Wars episodes she'd watch.
She watched all of Rebels anyway, and doesn't watch this new show.
Oh well, only one more season to go after this one, can't stop now...

Is It Possible We Do Too Much?
Naaaaaah.
Of course not.
Disney isn't simply a vacation for us, it is a way of life.

Renfield- A Weird Combination that Works...for some
Comedy Horror is probably my favorite genre, and Renfield did that well. There were laughs, there were screams, and there were moments where both reactions were applicable.

Personal Experiences With A Carlin Home Companion
Likely for the same reason as many of his fans, I read the book by George Carlin's daughter, Kelly, to learn more about him. A Carlin Home Companion did provide a great deal of insight into her father, but provided much more about the amazing person Kelly Carlin is and where her life's journey's have taken her.

My Second Favorite Explanation of What Dungeons and Dragons is Like
My favorite explanation still came from my Father. He never played but was trying to explain D&D to his friends in "The Crew" after I started playing and was getting the other kids Up the Lake to try.
"Imagine you play Monopoly at one house. Then the game ends. A few days later you go to another house with different people, but you keep the same piece and all the properties and money from the first game."
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was a close second place.

Everyone Needs a Little Mayhem in their Lives
Given the lack of involvement of Kirk Thatcher, I did not have high hopes for the Muppet Mayhem ten episode series. (That is, before Anabelle texted me through her first viewing before coming home and watching it again with us, because it was that good.)
I did not know going in that Bill (creator/ performer of Clueless Morgan, Pepe, Bobo, Johnny Fiama, Big Mean Carl) Baretta was a developer and writer of the show, or I would have gone in with more excitement and expectations of a return to form.

It Be Time to Talk About The Pirate Films
As I sit here finally writing about the Pirates of the Caribbean films on September 19th, "Talk Like a Pirate Day"...
I'm realizing the down side of having posts planned out this far in advance for proper timing of them.

Star Wars Fans are Nothing if Not Consistent
The Mandalorian season three is completed. Just like the first two seasons, it was only eight episodes. However, it succeeded in wrapping up multiple plot threads, tying back to storylines from the Star Wars Animated Cannon, and gave shining moments to minor characters from this series and other parts of the franchise. (Rebels, YAY!)

The True Philadelphia Heavyweight Champion
Joe Frazier got short changed in both "real world versus Rocky" line ups. Therefore, he gets an entire post with videos for each confrontation in the "Gauntlet." I chose specific locations to make it seem like Joe had traded places with Balboa throughout the film franchise. However, I'm old and forget things now, making that less obvious than it should have been.

Disney World 2022 day 1 August 2- Pretty Small World Queue-mpah
On the final day of packing, scrambling and otherwise freaking out, Kim and I both saw the airport website tell us to get there THREE hours before a domestic flight. We’d never seen that suggested before. Both our family’s trip to Denver and Dave’s to Alaska were made with the normal two hour arrival window from the same airport.

Real World Champions Fight the Fictional Gauntlet
While it is true I am wasting time here by posting about my video game playing activities, I could be wasting far more of it.

Walt Disney World 2022 August 2- 11
So It Was Kind of a Fiasco, But Somehow It Worked Out Anyway
Or
Though there were a myriad
of reasons for it to fall through,
somehow Grandma returned...
the
McGinley and Luer families en masse to Disney World for a successful and fun
trip,
where nobody actively tried to injure each other.
(I suspect Grandpa watching over us)
It was a Disney Miracle!

Clash of Fictional Champions
As my cheesy "talking about a video game and making it somewhat informative by adding real world information" posts continue, its time to hit a new low - substituting one fictional character for another.
My absolute favorite boxing movie is Diggstown.

The Other Italian Heavyweight Champion
After playing Rocky Marciano through the Rocky movie fights, I've adopted that "Gauntlet" as a way to enjoy myself with Fight Night Champion for an evening without having to spend time picking bouts. Since there's a lot of variety in the opponents, it makes for an interesting evening.
