Litany of Godzilla – Lost Legendarys (C)

Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire
2024

Sometimes I don't notice how much insane stuff happens in these films until I write them up like this.

This is truly a Kong story, but with proper deference to Godzilla as the King of Monsters.

Three years after their last fight, because they've finally started to "get it,"
we open on scenes of Kong and Godzilla with NO PEOPLE. WOO!

Litany of Godzilla – Lost Legendarys (A)

Kong: Skull Island
2017

This feeds into important ones later, meaning it earns this treatment without Godzilla, or other Toho creations. Not only that, it's a heck of a film! Or as Anabelle calls it "A Cinematic Masterpiece and One of My Favorite Movies Ever Made."

Litany of Godzilla- Showa Sidekicks 2

Rodan
(really Radon as in "short for pteranodon")
1956

A day may come when I remember that this movie came out BEFORE Mothra...
But this is not that day.

This film reunites the Five Fathers of Godzilla:
Director- Honda, Producer- Tanaka, Music- Ifukube, Effects- Tsuburaya, Suit- Nakajima.

Plus Godzilla favorite actors Kenji Sahara as Traumatized Engineer
and
Akihiko Hirata (sans eye patch this time) as Concerned Paleontologist.

The overall story and action is really well done and we get a Predator like genre shift.
(Granted its more of a subtle shift from normal horror to Kaiju, but still, a shift.)

Litany of Godzilla- Reiwa Restart

 Godzilla Minus One
2023

Toho, using a fraction of the current Legendary budget, creates a true rarity- a Godzilla film that would still feature an excellent story and human characters even without Godzilla in it.  Yes, I actually cared about the people in this story. Amazing!

It is 1945, and none of the other films have happened... again.

Godzilla X Kong! You know what the "X" is for?

X-ceptional!

X-citing!

X-ception to American Studios screwing up Toho properties!

George Awards: Well If It's Undisputed, What's All the Fighting About?

Warning

This post contains bad, foul, filthy and unacceptable language - the words that “will curve your spine, grow hair on your hands and maybe, even bring us, God help us, peace without honor.”

This is not a post for children.  Kids, take a hike.
This is also not a post for those adults who are offended by this type of language.  Do yourself a favor, and go read some of my cute stuff before moral outrage can kick in.
Just about everything else on this blog is clean…Stupid sometimes, but clean.
End of Warning.

Mighty Catchy Stuff: The Very Best of Scaffold

With me and lists, it had to happen eventually.

This selection is a total lie in order to both expand the list of albums I'm talking about and to tell more goofy stories, which I have demonstrated a willingness to do for any reason I can think of.

It does not really belong on the Mighty Catchy Top ten, however there are three excellent reasons for it being here.

Godzilla Vs Kong Vs Expectations

That was a ridiculously long wait.  First due in the fall of 2019, then it was supposed to be a fantastic Fiftieth birthday present for me, untill the plague struck.

Godzilla Vs Kong Vs Schedules

Godzilla vs. Kong was supposed to come out in March, but it has been delayed until next November.  I know there's viable reasons for improving the film and/ or adjusting competition, but my nerd rage at losing an awesome birthday present was pretty significant.

However it was nothing compared to my daughter's which took a deeply theatrical bent:

Litany of Godzilla: Reiwa Cartoons

There is a reason these are late that has nothing to do with the fact that I didn’t notice they were on Netflix until a couple of weeks ago.

Well…almost nothing.

Facebook Film Foolishness: Coda

We’ve had impact lists, previously mentioned impact lists, Eighties lists, and two groups of weird non-human lists.  For the musical finale, repeats are allowed, since I made so many rules last week, I’ve limited the selection pool.  However, these are much more rankable than merely using chronological order.

Facebook Film Foolishness Part 4

There is another whole group of ten movies that are portions of my soul that didn’t meet the original requirements, or last week’s

They say the first few years of life are key for imprinting on a language. My theory is that the teen years are key for imprinting on movie quotes.  This is a series of films from the 1980’s with varying degrees of mystical or fantastic elements that in most cases I don’t remember the first time I saw them. However, as years have passed they’ve wormed into my brain to a level that most weeks will not pass without me quoting many of them.
