George Awards: Well If It's Undisputed, What's All the Fighting About?

Warning

This post contains bad, foul, filthy and unacceptable language - the words that “will curve your spine, grow hair on your hands and maybe, even bring us, God help us, peace without honor.”

This is not a post for children.  Kids, take a hike.
This is also not a post for those adults who are offended by this type of language.  Do yourself a favor, and go read some of my cute stuff before moral outrage can kick in.
Just about everything else on this blog is clean…Stupid sometimes, but clean.
End of Warning.

Hello and welcome back to this year's George Awards.  Now were going to have some for recent films that I saw on streaming services...

BECAUSE I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GO TO THE FUCKING MOVIES FOR A YEAR AND A HALF!!!!

Ahem...sorry.

The first goes to Godzilla Vs Kong, a film I watched six times in the month it was first available, because my family was practically begging me to avoid watching the Snyder cut of Justice League so they wouldn't have to hear me bitch and moan about a four hour film specifically designed to annoy me.

Godzilla Vs Kong was  a lot of fun, heavily rewatchable and had many cool moments.

It only had two decent level uses of the same swear, unlike its predecessor featuring a John Carpenter reference that was the first F-Bomb in a Godzilla flick.  Sadly, we have diminished.

The bad guy dropping a soft "oh shit" before being annihilated by a Kaiju was pretty predictable.

However, Josh, played by Julian Dennison who must have learned George Award worthy profanity in Deadpool 2 gets the accolades this time.

When he realized Madison and their new conspiracy minded friend Bernie were dragging him down a rabbit hole of insane, giant monster fueled danger, his understated "shit," at the bar, carried the moment.

The second one goes to the 2021 reboot of Mortal Kombat.

I watched it one night and thought, "this is really stupid."

Then, after being bored and annoyed ten minutes into New Mutants, I gladly watched it again the following night.

Dumb, but entertainingly rewatchable is the consensus from most like minded reviewers.

The choice of making the main character someone new to the franchise still seems really odd to me and I hope he evolves into a version of his ancestor.

However, it was a hoot and a half. I kind of feel like fans of the original, goofy Mortal Kombat films grew up and demanded more violence and profanity, without altering the goofiness.

In fact, the references to the quotes and situations of the games now seem far sillier compared to the darker background.

The George Award goes to Kano (Josh Lawson).

This is not for his near constant stream of expletives, shouted at all the other characters almost any time he is on screen. (Which was fucking awesome.)

This is rather for one subtle, quiet moment, when he learns the path to training and uncovering his animality Animus, will require time and patience.

Under his breath he lets out a quiet, yet hysterical, "fuck."

Again, because I haven't left the fucking house, this years awards will shift to far more Dana Awards for Profanity in TV shows than George Awards for Films.

There will be a pause before restarting, possibly switching to Mondays, where continuing threads are supposed to be on this blog.
That would be once the Album thread ends.
But maybe not.
Who the hell knows?

Click here to continue whenever that happens.

Yeah, organization of everything this year has been a shit show on many levels.

I agree that Godzilla vs Kong was a lot of fun. And the Snyder Cut of Justice League was way too long.
