Hello There!

Spoilers!
He did the thing!
and
He said the thing!

Anyway, the latest Star Wars series that started life as a "Star Wars Story" movie before nobody liked Solo except me...
(And my mother. Hi Mom!)
was Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Thank you Deborah Chow for giving us some more truly quality Star Wars moments, and adding some variety from the recent batch of excellent Space Westerns.

First of all, major props to all the ads making it look like it would be yet another Star Wars set on Tatooine while "Ben" watched over Luke.

The galaxy spanning tale featuring Obi Wan as a protector of Sass Queen "little Leia" was something I saw nothing about until the premier.

Overall, it was a great and exciting ride that let both Obi-Wan and Vader develop from where they left off in Revenge of the Sith towards where we first met them in Star Wars.

Owen and Beru got the most to do in any outing they've been in, and were shown to be the parents that molded Luke into the hero of the Original Trilogy that we all know.

The Inquisitors were yet another nice inclusion from the Animated world of Star Wars.  Reva was a complex antagonist that followed her own arc. Some say she'd committed too much evil to be redeemed and live at the end of the story. However, since there will likely be another season, and there are eighty gazillion other Star Wars shows and films in planning, having her arc continue throughout them will be an interesting journey and the performer could definitely pull off whatever complexities are required. (Slowly becomes an atoner and an ally of the begrudging Rebellion? sure. Transition to a criminal or bounty hunter that still hates the Empire, why not? Change her name to Mara Jade? (an idea I stole but fully support) Go for it!)

Hayden Christenson did fantastic, both in the suit and flashbacks. There were clunky bits to the prequels, sure, but this performance shows he shouldn't be blamed. Darth Vader was terrifying, yet Obi-Wan, the man who knew him as Anakin best, still had his number.  Also, just like Majel Barret digitally recorded a huge library of phonemes so she can be Star Trek Computers forever, they should hook James Earl Jones up to the Respeacher and do the same thing to provide Vader's iconic voice for generations to come.

Ewen McGregor was one of the highlights of the prequels, and he continued to be fantastic here in this Jedi driven story.

It's cool that there's so much Star Wars content now, seeing how it appeals to different people. My daughter doesn't like westerns and didn't care much about most of the Boba Fett show, but grew up on Star Wars Rebels and Rogue One as her favorites and loved the Obi-Wan show. My Mother always liked spaghetti westerns and couldn't wait for Boba Fett each week, but watched Obi-Wan only because she wanted to know what would happen, more than any excitement.

Me- I'm over here with my inner seven year old taking over for all of them going,
"STAR WARS, WOO HOO!"

As much as I enjoy all of the franchise, anything set closest to the original Trilogy always feels the most like coming home to me.

In short.
STAR WARS, WOO HOO!
More please!
