Niagara Falls 2012: Prologue

Falling with Dinosaurs
Or
Slowly I Turned

Although it has long been on the “we should go there” list , we sort of went to Niagara Falls by accident.

I’m sure this is not a surprise to anyone who knows us.

Out of the Loop in the Loop

This is yet another reason why I was single for ages, but ended up with a near endless supply of comedy material.

Normally, I avoided any and all locations of the bar and club scene.  Whenever I visited one of these places, I was overwhelmed by the feeling that I had landed on a completely different planet, where I had no experience with the traditions and customs, and only minimal book knowledge of the language.

However, I violated my usual rule one night to go see a friend's band play in a cool club in Passaic.

Fantastically Addicted

I was happily saving money by not buying any regular monthly comics after DC’s Nu52 debuted. (I still expected to buy some trades of course…I’m not naïve enough to think there’s any universe that would keep me from following Grant Morrison’s Bat-insanity, or buying a Paul Cornell written Etrigan.)

Then I accidentally started collecting Fantastic Four.

This is highly odd as I have never been a big fan of the Fantastic Four.

I need to qualify that last statement, as normally when I say something along those lines, I’m completely full of crap.

Flying Bananas to Europe

This is a song…
or a poem,
or something that formed in my head when the title was said in a very boring meeting.

I really need a shorter leash for my brain

Oh, Deer

Path to the forbidden zone.
I was in fully suited spiffiness to attend a meeting with Japanese regulatory representatives when the call came in. My wife informed me her suspicion that the doe we’d seen sporadically in the back yard did have babies with it, most likely born there.

While lovely looking animals, the presence of near epidemic levels of Lyme bearing ticks this year meant they needed to go. Nature’s nice, but you don’t see us driving out to the middle of their forest to give birth, do you?

Rise, Dark Knight, Rise!

My hat is back, and what’s left of the shirt and Converse sneakers I’ve worn to every Batman preview for over two decades was busted out yet again.
This made my (and my sister’s) outfit older than a large percentage of people at the midnight show. (Yes, mom was there too, we're a strange but fun family.)

Here’s the review (Spoilers for the first two Nolan films, generic comments on the new one.)

Rocky Mountain Bye

Yeah, yeah.
There’s supposed to be a Dark Knight Rises review here today.

But I'm too distracted to write one yet.

What happened?

Well, I’ll tell you.

(Cue Tony Bennetish tinkly piano music)
