Disney 2019 Planning Part 5

The Liberty Square Riverboats are undergoing refurbishment…including their tracks. Huh.  I guess in hindsight it’s obvious they’re on tracks, but I never considered it.  Disney illusions are all encompassing, aren’t they?

The EPCOT transformation is in full swing.  End Summer 2019 will be the final Illuminations show. That should help crowds…oy.

Kidcot stops are now sponsored by Ziploc.  No more masks, no more Duffys no more Perrys! They give out Ziploc suitcases and each country has a fact card with a coloring image on the other side.  That sounds way cooler to me than the old stuff, kind of like a free passport.
Yay! Some things are better.
[Later Edit- we didn't get one.  It probably says something significant about my maturity level that as a forty-nine year old, I was way more excited about this than any of the children.]

They’re expanding the size of “Early Morning Magic” the “Paid Extra Magic Hours with Breakfast.”  I’m suspicious.

Rafiki’s planet watch closed.  Guess we weren’t the only ones who never went there. My daughter’s response summed it up well.
“GASP!!!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo(who cares)oooooooooooo”

Oops. Nevermind, it’s reopening in the spring.  I'm still not going.

World of Disney reopens to look like an “animators studio.” Looks more like a snooty mall store to me in pictures. The spitting Stitch is gone too.  How sad.

Ralph and Vanellope are returning to Disney World with their new movie coming. First in Innoventions, then at a permanent home in the Imageworks in Imagination!  I guess Dreamfinder and Figment aren’t coming back, fudge.  I also wonder if the Cast Member punishment system (Baymax) is leaving to bring them in to begin with?
[Later edit- He didn't, yay!]

Grandma copied all the “Hidden Mickey” pages from the Birnbaum book big enough to read, and carry with her when we go.  I love this family.

They’re “refreshing” both circlevision films in EPCOT.  I hope they keep Marty!

Disney Vacation time officially approved at work on the first day the calendar reaches it. Yay!

Disney recovery day is approved. Miscounted ‘cause the trip is so long. Yay! Thanx Grandma!

New Snow White Enchanted Forest meal at Wilderness Lodge opens. MyDisneyExperience app is down...again, removing any hope of figuring out how hard it will be to book.

Free dining plan announced! Attached only to Park Hopper tickets again. What a rip.

The park hours and extra magic hours aren't listed yet, but the Halloween parties are.
Magic Kingdom will close early (6PM now, I think) for them
Tuesday Aug 20, Friday Aug 23, Tuesday Aug 27.
Add that to avoiding Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Mondays and at least it’s a piece of the Grid Puzzle.

Extra magic is usually Wednesday night and Friday morning.
Maybe if there are four MK days we should use Wednesday Friday (Cinderella or Snow White hotel dinner) Sunday and Tuesday (other night dinner , or head back to pack since we do that sometimes.)

Like I said, the first puzzle piece of many.

We have airline tickets!  AAAAAAAAAAAAAH! It’s real! I have so much to do!!!!!

In more hilarious news Anabelle talked with her cousins and on the way home from dance told me they were all excited to meet the dwarfs “Dumpy and Gropey.”  Pure Disney magic kept the car from crashing until I recovered and said, “That sounds like a whole different set of dwarves.”

Magic Mickey replaced with Mickey and Minnie together for the birthday celebration.  So much for skipping that FastPass.

Pixar Place at MGM now rethemed as “Municiberg” for the Incredibles dance parties and Edna Mode meet and greet. Plus Mike and Sulley have moved into the One Man’s Dream area. (That has a new name too, but since I'm still using MGM, I won’t be changing that either.)

The Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Live! Show returns to the World Showcase stage, because timing when to get halfway through the EPCOT Death March when we were just worried about the American Adventure show wasn’t hard enough.

We’re booked!  Awesome Happy Disney person Lionel sets us up and also saves Grandma a bundle while getting us the free dining plan and park hopping, with a switch to All Star Sports.  That's the resort Grandpa took her to when the two of them went for a long trip alone the first time they didn’t go to the Contemporary. Having his birthday be the first two digits of the confirmation numbers proves this is the correct choice.  This is the first time I can remember that we’re set more than 180 days before going.
Hooray, planning!

Grandma suggests instead of trying to hit a park on the truncated last day, to do the Mad Hatter breakfast. It gives us something to do and avoids cutting into park time another day. That's a great the question is if I can book it?

The Steam Punk Maleficent Dragon returns to the Festival of Fantasy parade after the accident last May.  I’d probably need eight months of sick leave if my head caught on fire too.

I act as consultant for Anabelle’s FastPass planning for her friend group on the  March band trip.  Avatar, Slinky Dog, and Soarin’ already gone. She asks, “How do you do this for nine people without killing all of us and going alone?”

A tip from a consultant at work leads to a website with projected attendance that may help when to hop and when not to hop.  Then again, we won’t know if it’s right until we get there.
[Later edit- We were there, I'm still not sure, but have strong doubts about its rightness.]

The sky gondolas are in test mode, opening in the fall. That means we can see them but can’t ride in them. Sounds like a win/win!
