Disneyland announces the Haunted Mansion line area to be expanded, making it more immersive and adding a Memento Mori type shop. It’s like they know we’re coming.
[Later edit- Or not, since they didn’t finish in time for us to see it.]

Hera and Chopper show up in StarWarsLand! Will they remain long enough to make Anabelle’s head explode?
[They will not. Other stuff will happen for "Season of the Force" time though which will. Also, this is not special Star Wars time so why are they there? - Relaxed and Groovy.]

A late birthday present for Anabelle arrives, Birnbaum’s Guide for Disneyland 2024 that was just published.
C minus 219 Days
Anabelle comes home for fall break and is excited about the Disneyland Guide.

Rosa passes out well before us after taking Anabelle to a very early appointment. Anabelle and I use the late night Daddy/ Daughter time to peruse the Disneyland guide. Even having not been there in years (me- and they were "less than a full day" trips back when there was only one park, so they don’t count) or ever (her) we both easily spot mistakes and things that have changed since (or likely before) publication of this year’s book. The guide functions as they always do for us during planning, fun pictures to look at and lists to detail on our own.
[Later Edit- And the existence of a MUCH closer airport we didn’t know existed.]

Anabelle enters lists of attractions and restaurants in her Disneyland Planning notebook. Usually, the attractions do not go in there, but since we haven’t been to these parks, she needs to familiarize herself with where everything is.
[Later edit- Which was very fortunate, because I never had any clue where we were in California Adventure.]

Anabelle introduces Rosa to the Birnbaum’s Guide. Mostly they pick on the lack of things at California Adventure, and review which rides Rosa could handle of the ones that don’t exist in Florida.

After a day at the MoMA, Disneyland Trivia accompanied dinner. (It was mostly cross comparing notes of things we’d discovered in early research.) At home, we checked some YouTube videos of the CarsLand attractions to see if Rosa could handle the Radiator Springs Racers one and figure out what the heck the other two were. Anabelle has decided she wants to do the character breakfast at the California equivalent of “The Plaza.” [Later edit- Good call!]

Anabelle and I check out some wait times on the App and dig into figuring out what some of the attractions we weren’t sure of are. With Rosa, we do some more YouTube checks about what she could ride. I remembered Roger Rabbit was a regular dark ride, but Anabelle was worried it had a warning. (It was a regular dark ride.) Anabelle remembered Spider-Man was an oversized version of Toy Story Mania, but I thought it had more simulator elements. (It was an oversized version of Toy Story Mania.)

Anabelle continues to populate her Disneyland Notebook. She took the lists of our Disney shirts from the last Disney World trip and sorted them into each park or miscellaneous.
She also requested I make the “voting sheets” for Disneyland, even though there are only three of us. I believe this is mostly for the reason I have always made them, not for planning but for excitement enhancement.

Disneyland Trivia is now the request all the time when we eat. This is hard as we haven’t been, meaning it’s a lot of “Were you paying attention when I told you this thing?” Or “What are you looking forward to?”

I was all excited about showing Anabelle and Rosa the Tarzan themed tree house, since that’s a big movie in our family. Therefore, Disney changed it back to Swiss Family Treehouse for the anniversary. Alas.

They’re changing the announcers for the two California parks for rope drop and closing. I’d probably be more upset if I had ever been to Disneyland at either rope drop or closing. I really feel like I should be doing more planning, but since we don’t know exactly when we’re going that’s tough. Maybe I’ll do a recon phone call this weekend.
[Later edit- There were announcements? We were there for almost every rope drop and closing, and I don’t remember hearing any.]
