C minus 136 Days
Anabelle and I get art “page a day” art calendars from the MET, instead of a Disney calendar, even though we know for sure we’re going. Further proof that the Disneyland trip is separate and not an “Official McGinley Family Disney Event" like Disney World is.
C minus 132 Days
We start seriously looking at flight times, which is WAY harder than Florida as the flights are longer, there’s two airports to pick from, we don’t know how to get to Disney from there and there is a time difference. Luckily Rosa is really good at this part.
C minus 131 Days
Anabelle got her notebook out last night and we all worked through huge lists of Disney shirts to pare them down for the trip.
After she put the book away, we all realized we forgot some shirts, plus Rosa offered to make me a new one.
At least we tried.
C minus 130 Days
We reviewed the one in-park character meal we want to go for when we’re there. The Plaza breakfast is hosted by Minnie… and that’s the only guaranteed character. Pretty much ANYONE can show up. Pooh and Friends, others of the sensational six, GOOFY SPAWN! The mind boggles.
[Later edit- And it was boggled in the best possible way!]

Well… The flights are booked. I guess I really need to figure out how the hell to plan everything else!
C minus 122 Days
WOW We’re really doing this. Called Awesome California Happy Disney Nancy and made a bunch of jokes about what I knew and what I didn’t know. Anabelle is amazed by the reminder that I am actually funny to someone who doesn’t live with me. We got all kinds of info and booked hotel and park tickets. Park Hopping is only one relatively low price per person, not per day, cool!
[Later Edit- We learned why park hopping is much cheaper. The parks are tiny and touching each other. Also, due to overwhelming levels of Relaxed and Groovy no one knows when anything is happening in either park.]
C minus 121 Days
Anabelle and I review my notes from the call. Mostly she insults my handwriting. We realize that - while meal booking day is March 13- park reservation day was yesterday. AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
C minus 120 Days
Made the park reservations with no issue. YAY! Our Avatars aren’t appearing which means I’ll be on the phone with tech support to make sure everything is linked properly. woo.
[Later edit- Everything was linked properly. There is a weird and tenuous connection between the Disneyland and Disney World websites that run everything, but they are separate. This meant while the names were already linked, Freakin’ California doesn’t have the pretty pictures.]
C minus 112 Days
The Haunted Mansion closes to take down the Christmas overlay… and to add a fancy line and little shop. They can finish that by May… right? RIGHT?!?!?!?!
Rosa is also very sad. “Boo hoo.”
[Later Edit- They did not finish that by May. Alas.]
C minus 110 Days
A bit of research shows what I kinda knew, there is no refillable mug in Disneyland. That’s going to mean a shift in hydration/ caffeination is needed.
In other weird California news, the Disneyland parade runs at 5:30 PM.
[Later Edit- I would end up dehydrated and low on caffeine frequently. Also, the parade times were as Relaxed and Groovy as everything else.]
C minus 109 Days
Based on nothing but sheer blind luck we have aligned park reservation days with the days each park is expected to have early morning Extra Magic Hour Half Hours. Eh, it wasn’t like we were going to sleep anyway.
Also, Mei Mei is appearing to meet at California Adventure… with HER MOM!
I think I’d rather hug Losto.
Yeesh!
Anabelle- To be honest, if the line was short, I would wait to meet Mei Mei. Like, her movie was lowkey bad, but she was cute.
Her mom is a wild choice though.
Me- I know, her expression makes me think she’ll be like a stricter version of Lady Tremain.
[Later Edit- Like much in the Land of Relaxed and Groovy, we stumbled upon them when they weren’t supposed to be there, and it was fairly entertaining. Then we watched the movie again when we came home and everyone’s opinion of it rose significantly.]
