Disney World 2025 Planning Part 10

April 21, 2025
H minus 27 Days
Anabelle watched The Rescuers Down Under last night because it “completed a column” of her list. This is in spite of the fact that “I hate everyone in this movie except the Rescuers and the child, and I guess the giant eagle is fine. And by the Rescuers I mean Bernard and Bianca. NOT the Australian one, he sucks.”  She also pointed out, “It has been 25 minutes and literally nothing has happened, but Miss Bianca is slaying.”

One Month From Today- We begin the process of bidding farewell to Muppet Vision 3D, in between attempts at foraging for counter service meals at MGM.
Anabelle- HUZZAH  (not huzzah that Muppets are leaving)

Me- Parade time listings have leapt forward for all of May midafternoon. Crazy, there is no pattern. Grid update tomorrow after proof read.
Anabelle- *loved this*
Rosa- *laughs*

Anabelle watched the original One Hundred and One Dalmatians last night. She always expects that maybe she likes this one more than she thought. Then Cruella shows up. “WHY DO YOU WANT TO MAKE A COAT OUT OF PUPPIES YOU SATAN!?!?!”  But it’s fine, because she likes the couples. ("Roger and Anita are icons.") She also likes Mr. Tibbs as the only animal who is actually useful.

Rosa wanted to see the Rescuers sequel, and we followed Anabelle’s example of watching that one. I always forget that, even as a theatrical release, the downward art shift for Disney sequels existed back then. We agreed with our child that Jack was a jerk. (“Spit on him for me.”- Anabelle) I feel the movie would work better if the eagle design (which was impressive) allowed more (or any) emotional expression.

Me- Proofread The Grid, cleaned it up and it is ready to go. This should be the final form, unless they shift Park hours last minute like they ALWAYS do, because they hate me. I think I can print it today, even having forgotten my badge. OOH! it worked!
Anabelle- LIT!
Me- Oops, there will be another update, because I forgot I put a spot for the weather forecast.
(Foreshadowing- Should have just put “record breaking heat” in those spots.)

One Month From Today- Full Magic Kingdom Day! Parades! Cavalcades!! Lunch in the Castle! CINDERELLA!!! Napping on rides! (Until hit by a cannon ball.)
Anabelle- Literally shut up. lmao It’s not my fault.

Menu updates, for Star Wars Month! Because they hate me, all in MGM.
Backlot express-
Battle of Hoth Macaroon: Toasted coconut macaroon on a cookie decorated with buttercream, shredded coconut, and white chocolate
Chosen One Cooler: Sweet-and-sour citrus limeade served with a Skywalker lightsaber swizzle stick (Non-alcoholic beverage; also available with Patrón Silver Tequila)
Sith Lord Libation: Cherry limeade served with a Darth Vader lightsaber swizzle stick (Non-alcoholic beverage; also available with Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon)

The Churro Cart near Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Lightsaber Churro with chocolate sauce! YAY! Finally, I will be in a Park with lightsaber churros!
[Later Edit- Rosa found it! Also- Bleah.]

Docking Bay 7
Mythrol Orb: Crystal blue raspberry orb served with tart pineapple-passion fruit sauce and crunchy streusel
Sliced Eopie Wrap: Roasted pork loin, capicola ham, spiced broccoli rabe, provolone, and red pepper mulsauce wrapped in pita bread, drizzled with herb aïoli, and served with yuca fries [This may tempt me away from the Ronto rap.]
[Later Edit- Or it may not.]

Milk Stand Snacks
Kessel Run Rations: Flaky pretzel croissants sprinkled with smoked sea salt and served with caramel-chocolate sauce
Mossberry Biscuit: Biscuit topped with ube and matcha icing, ube micro sponge cake, sprinkles, and dehydrated blueberries

Plus they’ll have a “Coaxium Sipper” for the milk.

ABC Commissary, Backlot Express, Fairfax Fare, Main Entrance Cart, and PizzeRizzo will have a “Jawa Sipper.” Which is adorable.
[Later Edit- And, to no one’s surprise, I now own.]

And there are two Popcorn Buckets, a Death Star and a Clone Trooper Helmet, that we don’t need.

Anabelle- Oh they're mostly desserts (and pork loin which I don't like)
Irrelevant lol
Never mind, never mind, never mind, never mind, never mind, never mind,
I NEED the mossberry biscuit oh my God.
I love ube.
(Foreshadowing- Alas.)

On the list of Anabelle saying, “I would have watched it with you if there was more time” Rosa and I watched Robin Hood last night. I think the early (and scrapped) idea of having that film use country and western music is what lead to the assembly of old cowboy movie stars that appear in it, and then the rest of the Disney films from the Seventies to early Eighties we’ve been watching.
(Foreshadowing- Oh, right. This was before Pooh, and was where those actors started work with Disney. Also, this is not foreshadowing, even more than most of the other ones are not.)

One Month From Today- Lunch in the Tusker House. Make sure tiny Donald is sewed down tight! Followed by a hop to the Magic Kingdom with NO PLANNED TIME! AAAAH!!!
Anabelle- he's pinned in place don't even worry. tiny Donald is locked and loaded.
(Foreshadowing- He was freed for his EPIC visit with Donald.)
(More foreshadowing- I should have grabbed "Second Ribs." Yes, this is annoying even me now, but hopefully it will lead me to remembering next time.)
(Even more foreshadowing- Dang it!)

Disney sent us an email reminding us to download the Disney World app. They’re so precious.

The quest for the over sneaker boot continues. Looks like there’s just one place that has it online.
(Foreshadowing- And we never did find a sneaker that it fit on. I don’t think anyone ever had, “Jeff wears hiking boots to Disney World” on their bingo card.)

A co-worker told Anabelle the Guardians ride in EPCOT is super fun and didn’t jumble him too much. It was just very spinny. Two important additions to this statement. This is the same co- worker who mentioned questionable behaviors over a previous vacation, and “spinny” is the one ride element that makes me vomit.

It was Rosa’s turn to make the Disney Choice Last Night. We watched Wish. It certainly didn’t deserve all the bad mouthing it got. Some of the songs could have been much better. Anabelle and I had a heated texting discussion about which songs that statement applies to.

Anabelle, chasing the “early years” column of her list, started on the “pseudo fantasia” musical anthology films with Melody Time. She asked, “Is this what it’s like to be on acid?” Running head first into occasional, casual racism is always a risk in that era.

One Month From Today- We will be at the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival with NO PLANNED MEALS! Kiosk and Country Foraging Time!!!!! I’d be willing to bet money we end up eating more than if we sat down somewhere, but at least we’ll walk it off.
Anabelle- I definitely will not. I’m going to forget to eat. Have you met me?
(Foreshadowing- We all forgot to eat, and flirted dangerously with CrazyHungryLand. But then we foraged expertly.)

Last night Rosa and I finished the excellent Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes adventures. Therefore, we needed to watch The Great Mouse Detective. I love that even though it wasn’t a musical, Vincent Price’s condition for playing a Disney Villain was “I get a song, right?” And then they gave him TWO!! YAAY!

Further research on the over shoe immobilizer indicates it works equally well with a sneaker or a hiking boot. I will have to ask my physical therapist.
(Foreshadowing-Or simply use the only one it fit on.)

Anabelle-*finishing up her student teaching today, and getting tear inducing cards from her students* “Today is the last one month :(  a day of lasts ;-; ”
Me- One Month From Today- We bid one last sad farewell to Muppetvision 3D, before hopping over for more Festival Foraging at EPCOT. Odds are, by this point, even if we’re completely happy, we will look as if we have been mugged around the world.
Anabelle- littttttt
(Foreshadowing- Another original response from my child.)
Also Anabelle- RIP Muppet vision
