Disney World 2022 Planning- Part 22

July 17, 2022
P minus 16
I will not tell anyone else this, but I am having huge amounts of trouble being excited for this trip. There is so much going on, and so many possibilities for things to go wrong before we get there, with a little over two weeks to go I am more terrified than excited.
Here’s hoping this entry becomes meaningless once we get there.
[Later edit- It did! YAAAAAAY!!]

Disney Parks Time changes, because they want to drive us insane.
All parks have one difference from the last time I checked.
MK For the first night (and as of now only the first night) the park closes at 11pm instead of 10pm. (All other nights it still closes at 10.)
EPCOT and MGM still close at 9pm, but now open at 830AM instead of 9, meaning they open for us at 8am.
Animal Kingdom still opens at 730am for us (meaning we may not want to hang out all the way until 11pm the first night… but it’s us, and we’re insane so we may.)
[Later edit- Of course we did. Don’t be silly.]
However, now it closes at 8pm instead of 7pm, which means we will have to leave before the park closes the second day there to make the 815 Snow White dinner.
I'll wait a couple days to send an updated grid to see if they put the official parade times on the "daily' park hours view.

Grandma- Wow, I kind of was hoping they wouldn’t open earlier. Now I’ll need an extra half hour earlier in my wake up times. I’ll probably be asking you each the time of opening for the next day. However, I will bring my FINAL Grid also. XOZ

Me- Yup, but only 4 of the days are earlier, MK and AK open the same times.
On the positive side, AK closing an hour later makes it easier to eat dinner at Flame Tree the day we have lunch at Tusker House.

Grandma- Flame Tree - that is a very Positive thing, all right. OXZ

ME- That’s my Cynical Optimism for you- always finding the good side of the inevitable worst case situation.

Dave and his mom came back from Alaska with positive test results, because where would vacation preparation be without panicked planning moments. Minor symptoms and enough time to be clear by the time we go is tempering this.

The weather the day we leave is visible- Orlando, cloudy morning, scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. Same but more isolated by us. Here’s hoping we can duck under them on both sides.
[Later edit- We did! Take the early flight to Disney, kids!]

I’m at the point of checking both the park hours and the weather every morning…
Because there isn’t enough stress in my life.

The Disney site finally updated the daily calendar information for the whole time we’re there. The Grid has been updated and printed. (Regular for everyone, page a day for Grandma so she doesn’t have to fiddle with her scanner and printer for hours.)
No doubt they will change it next week…or more likely when we are in the air.
[Later edit- They did not. Yay!]

Rosa and I join the ever growing list along with Anabelle and Aurora for anti-biotic needed for pre-trip Sinus Infections party. (Ooh, Morgan’s in the party too!)

AllEars posted a list of every show time in every park, right after I printed out The Grid. It’s fine though, I’m not putting them all in. It would be an unreadable mess and they’re sure to change many times over the next weeks. It’s just nice to know how much will be going on to see anytime we don’t feel like standing on line for a ride or character.

In thrilling news, the Cast Members who work the railroad have been in training recently. Hope for the best, expect the worst!
[Later edit- We got our rail road expectations, not hopes. Alas.]

Sent to the gang-
Show times as an example (these will all probably change somewhat, we’ll get guides when we’re there.)
Remember the Lion King show is getting ready for all the acts to come back before we go.

[Later edit- Lion King Show was briefly shut down to bring it back to its former glory. Dodged a bullet on that timing.]
One thing to keep in mind, though: show times can and do change on any given day, so be sure to check the
Disney World website or My Disney Experience app for the most accurate show times!

Grandma   I fixed this just enough so I could print it on 3 pages and the cut off were perfect for the parks. I needed to delete all this From/Sent/To/ Subject to have Magic Kingdom on page one automatically & Epcot & MGM (Ha) on page 2 & Animal Kingdom on 3. I made those names (not MGM) in bold and capitals. The only other thing I had to do was put Love, Jeff on the last line or I would have needed 4 pages. Now I have them printed but I’ll only reprint them if you send changes and I’ll wait until next Monday. OXZ
[Later edit- Everyone got that? Good. Moving on!]

The parks are bringing back those stupid automatic PhotoPass cameras for characters. On the positive side, many of them are breaking and photographers have to fill in.

Update from Kim
I'm sure Anabelle is going to kill me but when I started to pack my shirts I found a big ugly stain on the front of my "Christopher Hanbin and Pooh-bacca" shirt. So I really don't want to wear it, cuz it's yucky (which is sad making because it's such a great mash up)...

However, we will all still match that day, do not worry.

Story time. The shirt is ridiculously old. I got it the very first time we went on Star Tours when it opened.
As the years went on, the stars (which were small glitter spots) all came off. Since it wasn't shiny anymore I gave it to Veronica to use as a night-shirt. Well, after I finished being sad about Pooh-bacca I remembered that she still has it, and I have fabric glue and lots of glitter. I have restored it to its former shiny glory and will wear it in MGM. This is super cool for me as I got it the first time we went on Star Tours after it opened and I will now wear it in Star Wars land the first time we go after it opened.
Sorry you have to adjust the grid again. But it is totally worth it, check out the picture [above]

My answer:
We both agreed refurbishing the old shirt was very cool
My first Star Tours shirts must have been from when I was my largest and most out of shape.
Anabelle still uses them as nightdresses and they’d hang all over me.
One of my MGM shirts is from my Second trip to MGM though.
