Beast Wars Season Three

The menu is the same but with a Red Console. There is an elevator ride first. Functional if not flashy.
The opening credits have bits from all three seasons including some massive spoilers. Sad, really. 
 

Optimal Situation

A decent recap. After a season break following the universe exploding, that is nice. Going right back to Megatron’s terrifying evil laugh, not so much. The point Silverbolt keeps bringing up, that Blackarachnia came from a Maximal Pod comes into play for two reasons.
A) She is fading out of existence.
B) She can activate Teletraan-I with the Golden Disk codes in her noggin. Which is impressive since even the Autobots couldn’t get the thing to work without Chip. (RIP My man.)

Oh, I see. The original Optimus Prime was only MOSTLY dead. There’s a healing connection to bring him all the way back that plugs into his Autobot logo. That would have been a feature of the Ark handy to know about back in 2005, no?
There are quite a bit of slapstick injuries accompanying the end of the universe. Nice to know the show’s tone (or multiple tones) hasn’t changed.
To give original Optimus time to heal, Optimus Primal takes his Spark into his chest, though everyone says it will be too powerful. That Spark looks a lot like the Autobot Matrix of Leadership! No wonder it is too powerful. (Yes, I know some other medium explained that was a decoy Matrix, but I’m ignoring all of that for consistency, and also because it is stupid.)

OOF- Optimus Prime needs a new face too. That had to hurt.
Huh, Optimus Primal has gears in his chest- a standard on fictional robots for about a century.
Well, that broke the Matrix. I’m sure it will be fine.
The Predacons, who all looked pretty dang dead at the end of last season show even greater resilience than before. Waspinator is putting his head back onto his body. Meanwhile Inferno looks really banged up and burned. Considering he was blasted to literal dust in the Energon explosion, I repeat, DO NOT mess with The Loon.
Rhinox is taking charge yet again. He is so done with all of them. Returning to getting ahead of myself, this explains a lot about the next series.
I know they were hoping for a Lycanthrope looking change (told you) with Optimus Primal’s Spark induced upgrade, but it looks a heck of a lot more like a Cicada bursting out of its old skin. OUCH!.

Back to the resilient Predacon gang, while Tarantulas’s little spiders are reassembling him, they accidentally knock Ravage’s head off a cliff. What a rude ending to a great warrior.
Quickstike’s cobra head tail/ arm appears to be independently mobile and sentient. Nothing disturbing about that.
Optimus Primal is now a weird hybrid of his first robot look and original Optimus Prime. He’s about half way in height between the two, making him ENORMOUS compared to the rest of his team… which makes him about Bumblebee’s size. Told you Ravage was WAY too small. 

That’s quite a color combination there Optimus. You look like prototype action figures when they use whatever color resin they have laying around. And he has massive “boob machine guns.” Classy. Also, original Optimus’s Spark is clearly visible through the cockpit window on Primal’s chest. Perhaps protect that better?

How does he feel?
“In a word… prime.” Please shut up.
“Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.” WOO HOO! Fine, I apologize for the “shut up.”
The Loon is a mess, staggering all over. Getting pulverized to dust will do that, I guess.
Megatron calls his foe “Optimal Optimus” and we’re just gonna go with that, huh?
He transformed into a giant space plane… but with fists as many giant space planes have.
“Transform and roll out!!!” Woo HOO!!!! Oh, now he’s a giant space truck …with fists. Whatever.
Rhinox is ignoring all this craziness trying to rebuild the timeline. (And Optimus Prime’s face.)
AAAHHH Megatron killed Blackarachnia. Silverbolt is broken now. She agreed to join him, finally but will stay a Predacon to the last. That’s a good thing as she's got their resilience. She’s not dead, she’s just in stasis lock, Wolf Boy. Stop howling you moron.
Young Cheetor is improving. He took out both bugs. That’s a really low bar though given their recently deceasedish condition. 

And talking about Predacon resilience, Rampage isn’t even dented. He was briefly stuck to a wall after being hit by a Tactical Nuke. 

I’m guessing we’re losing more Maximals this season.
Optimus succeeds in protecting Original Optimus’s Spark. (Again, that would have been a lot easier if it wasn’t on his OUTSIDE, moron.) However, doing that deflected the missile and blew up the Axalon, dropping it into the river. Ew, maybe don’t try to show water with this level of CGI, guys? I guess we don’t need to worry about how Optimus was going to fit his new giant self in there now.
Hey, Rhinox fixed original Optimus Prme’s face, and presumably the rest of him. Now his Spark/ The Matrix is back where it belongs… So why is Primal still “Optimal” sized?

Ah, the Maximals are living in the Ark now, but they moved in salvaged controls because they’re too small to work the Autobot ones. I don’t know, gang, Chip could do it from his wheelchair. (RIP, my man.)
 
 

Deep Metal

Optimal Optimus’s (do I really have to keep saying that?) shoulder, metallic tower things are bigger than some of his friends. This is a wild design.  
A mysterious Maximal ship is going into a forbidden sector. The “good guys” mission was WAY darker than they let on. The pilot is scanning for Protofom X and gets a signal through a wormhole. I don’t think that’s how that works.   
Rampage seems to be in a melancholy mood. I guess getting hit with a nuclear weapon will do that. He also sensed something before that ship went through the wormhole. Another case of Rampage being psychic. Those “make another Starscream” experiment Maximals have much to answer for.

Inferno is executing a one man charge on the Ark. He has apparently recovered. DO NOT mess with the … Oh, they dropped a boulder on him. He’s had a rough week.
A big angry crab face on a tank is never going to look right, and always creep me out.
Tarantulas is completely reassembled and still on his own side. WHAT IS HIS DEAL?
The crashed ship is doing an emergency transform scan under water. That’ll be useful… until he exits the ocean. Then he’ll have Aquaman syndrome. Why is he shiny already? Wasn’t Shiny-ness an effect of the alien beam? It's like they don't care. 

He is now a Sting Ray. Quite the coincidence that his name was already Depthcharge then, considering the others all had to adopt new names when they took a Beast Mode.
He’s not just a  Shiny Sting Ray, but a shiny split wing flying Sting Ray. That’s handy that is.
OOH GIANT SHINY SEA THINGS BATTLE!!! Why is the new guy so big? I thought that was unusual for Rampage? It’s like they still don’t care. 

Wow, he withstood a point-blank Rampage shot. He’s a tough, Shiny split wing flying Sting Ray.

The Ray face that stays on his chest in robot form, unlike the others which have chest faces that just creepily stare blankly, shoots zappy balls out of its mouth. Not sure if that’s more or less creepy.
Depthcharge has as a probe when he’s in fish mode that turns into a gun when he’s in robot mode. It looks like a shark. There is such a thing as taking theming too far.
He’s an angry loner, who was on Colony Omicron security and was the last survivor of Protoform X’s (Rampage's) attack. We now have a “Batman” to go with Silverbolt’s “Superman.” I mean, that’s why he uses his flappy wings as a cape in robot mode, right?

Ah, he did catch Protoform X in the past and handed him over to the Maximal Council… who gave him to Optimus Primal and company to get rid of. AWK-WAAARD!
“It’s not revenge I’m looking for… its JUSTICE!” Oh yeah. He’s Batman… Fish Batman.
We end with yet another “Gilligan-ing” of a space ship on prehistoric Earth courtesy of some crab fired missiles.
