Molly's Marvel Mania

As I pointed out in my Disney Planning excursions, I use AllEars.net frequently for Disney World menu and other information. One of their main reporters is Molly, and frankly her write-ups, videos and Instagram posts from the parks have been a source of sanity for my family during these excessively annoying times.  I’d feel safer in a Disney Park now than I would in most other places. They know how to deal with people, how to engineer in safety and have insanely high standards for cleanliness.

There’s no way I would trust any of the methods to get there, or any area I’d have to pass through to get there, unfortunately. Therefore, there’s no way we’re going.  However, seeing Molly’s adventures showing that our “Happy Place” is still there waiting for us helps a great deal.

Another thing Molly did recently was watch all the Marvel films in order for the first time.  While watching them she cataloged comments and thoughts along the way. I found this brilliant to share in as, after a lifetime of comic fandom, there is no way I am able imagine how a normal human being who doesn't live a life steeped in super hero mythology would view them.

I commented on each of her posts (because I’m a geek) and guessed the number of comments she’d have for Endgame exactly at 135. (Because I’m a HUGE geek.)

When finished, she wrote up a round up post with some final thoughts and questions for readers.  Because of that HUGE geek thing I answered them all.

No sense wasting pointless writing about comic books without it being a post, therefore here are her headers and questions, with my answers.

1. T’CHALLA IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST SUPERHERO.
Who do you think is the best?

In the movies, gotta be Iron Man, perfect casting, perfect execution.

2. I CRIED…A LOT.
What moment made you cry the most?

As a Dad, it was Ant Man realizing his daughter thought he was dead and then finding out he missed five years of her life.

3. I STILL CAN’T BE ON BOARD WITH WANDA & VISION.
BUT HE’S A ROBOT.  Am I missing something?
Any MCU romantic relationships you’re not into?

That's a debate that has been going on by comic writers themselves for years. Vision has been written as a completely sentient "Synthezoid" capable of all human emotions and interactions. That's the side I'm on. Other writers have broken them up because "Wanda can't be in love with a toaster."

Edit for blog only- I’ve gotten kinda worked up about the Wanda / Vision relationship since the first time I saw a writer screw it up based on the “toaster” idea. This should be pretty clear as I totally missed the question she was asking.  (HUGE geek)  That said, in the films I echo my belief in the comics, that Sif is the best compliment to Thor as a couple.

4. THANOS IS A HYPOCRITE
Thoughts on Thanos?

Yes, Thanos is a hypocrite. He's an evil selfish villain who uses illogical connections to justify his actions to himself. All those "As a kid you identify with the Avengers but as an adult you identify with Thanos" meme creator don't get it. However, Infinity War was so well done, you understand the justification he makes to himself, but you’re not supposed to agree with it.

5. I KNOW WHO HAWKEYE IS…AND HE’S PRETTY LEGIT.
How do you feel about Hawkeye?

Woo! I started regularly collecting comics in the early 80’s with the “West Coast Avengers” that Hawkeye led. He’s been a favorite ever since. I like him more in the comics (he’s one of the most different in the films) but the movies used enough of the source material to make him awesome as well.

6. I STILL DON’T KNOW WHICH IS THE BEST CHRIS.
Who do you think is the best Chris?

Cap was a truly iconic performance, but I think I like the fact that Chris Hemsworth’s sense of humor turned what is usually a serious character in comics into comedy gold gets my vote.

7. MY FAVORITE MOVIE WAS INFINITY WAR, MY LEAST WAS THE INCREDIBLE HULK.
Which MCU film is your favorite and least favorite?

My daughter’s favorite is Black Panther. For me, the original Avengers was the movie I’ve wanted to see since I was 12, so it holds a special place. I don’t really have a least favorite, its mood based. There’s light ones, dark ones, intense ones, and even the lower ranked ones have characters I’ve liked and known my whole life.
Example- sometimes I’m in a Hulk mood and then that film exactly what I needed.

Thanx again for sharing your trip,Molly,  and welcome to our world!

Thor 2 is definitely my least favorite followed closely by iron man 3 (mainly cause the trailer was amazing and the movie just meh) and then the first Thor. This is why I was shocked by Ragnarok being good

I like a lot of the comic inspired stuff in Thor 2 and the interactions between him and Loki. Ragnarock was great, that’s what I meant about basing it more inthe actor than character. I like Iron Man 3 more each time I see it. Lots of subtle things in there and it would have worked as an ending for the character’s arc. Like I said, I’m so happy they got made I like em all. Thanx for playing along.
