George Awards- "And Good Old Number Two"

Warning

This is not a post for children.  Kids, take a hike.

This post contains bad, foul, filthy and unacceptable language - the words that “will curve your spine, grow hair on your hands and maybe, even bring us, God help us, peace without honor.”

This is also not a post for those adults who are offended by this type of language.  Do yourself a favor, and go read some of my cute stuff before moral outrage can kick in.
Just about everything else on this blog is clean…Stupid sometimes, but clean.
End of Warning.
Welcome to the  official start (after the surprise) of the13th Annualsih (and extra late this year)  George Awards for profanity in film.

The past year or so has been a good one for a well placed profane expression in a distantly released sequel film. (How's that for a tenuous bond?)

The horror comedy follow up that was even later than this year's awards was 2024's (36 years later) Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
This one moved that comedy horror slider further towards the latter than the former. Referencing the famous "Day-Oh!" scene with one that was far creepier during the wedding, is a prime example of this. The original film was one of the earliest George Awards for it's single F-Bomb in a PG13.  (Oh shit, I really thought I owned the first one... I do not.)
This one cheated a little by beeping one out in the movie during that wedding scene.
leading to Beetlejuice yelling- "What the *BEEP*?!"

However, the earlier use when Beetlejuice he dumped the ghost after Lydia into hell while hiding out in an afterlife train ticket booth retained Michael Keaton's award level delivery.

"Your outta here fucker."

Spinal Tap 2 in 2025 (even later, with a 41 year gap) was brilliant. The cast and crew have continued their excellent ad libbing and musical skills. By focusing on a single reunion concert rather than a tour, it could tell a more straight forward story, with greater focus on the music, while still being hilarious.  There were some nice direct references to the profanity filled "Troggs Tapes" that inspired the original film. Due to the legendary status of that original film, the movie was filled with world famous musicians interacting with and playing with the boys. Also, their new drummer, Valerie Franco, was outstandingly talented, fun and fit right in.

However, the key award winning moment was Sir Elton John, in front of and then under the, finally correctly sized, Stonehenge after performing the hell out of that number.

Because it fell on him.
"Fuck! Spinal! Tap!"

Mortal Kombat II was in close competition for my favorite film this year (2026- only five years later, practically on time). They finally figured out how to capture the spirit of the games. My favorite part was that every single character acted like they were in a completely different type of movie. Liu Kang was in a mystical destiny story, Sonya was the only one who remembered all the rules from the first film,  Raiden was in a superhero film, Scorpion was in a mystical horror flick, Kano was in a standard Eighties action flick, Cole still thought he was the main character (until... ew), and Johnny Cage was in Big Trouble In Little China.

There was much great use of profanity. In fact, literally every fucking word out of Kano’s mouth could have gotten a prize.

But the moment that deserves an award is any time Baraka, the monstrous looking Tarkatan,  reverentially referred to his new teacher (based on insanely bad Nineties fight choreography) as:

“Johnny Fucking Cage.”

Yes, my ability to match the photo to the actual moment is about as good as my ability to make these annual. Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

Come back next week for a tribute to a previous George Award winning film with a multiple George Award winning star that had several more award worthy moments.
