The show was intelligently handled, the cast was fantastic, and it dealt with complex issues beyond the normal black and white morality of classic Star Wars.
We got deeply inspiring and stirring speeches from Gollum, Aunt Petunia, and Doctor Selvig.
Genevieve O'Reilly clearly demonstrates why Mon Mothma became the leader of the rebellion.
Diego Luna leads the whole shebang impressively, and Adria Arjona gives as amazingly a multi layered performance as in anything else I've seen her in.
It showed how the rebels had to "get their hands dirty," and highlighted the banal and "order and safety" pretexts that the evils of fascism frequently come from. (Looking at you Syril.) There are many fantastic villains in this one, all with clear darkness in them, but all heroes in their own mind. Denise Gough is downright terrifying.
There was action filled and exciting battles, but they almost always came with a price. There was also a great deal of thoughtful moments and complex dialogue.
Both sides showed a complete belief of the concept- "Acceptable Casualties."
I enjoyed it a great deal, and am looking forward to the story's completion in season two.
So congratulations those that grew up after enjoying Star Wars as a child, whichever trilogy or series that means, and wanted it to grow with you. You now have an "adult themed" Star Wars for you and your cronies to enjoy.
NOW LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE AND LET THEM ENJOY THE REST OF STAR WARS, BECAUSE IT BELONGS TO THEM!

The anthology style was a great idea to fill in gaps in the movie or Filoni Cartoon Cannon. It also will allow the creators to see which characters connect best with the audience to give them larger roles later on.
There is one down side. Now I am very sad we never got to see a young Christopher Lee in live action adventures of Count Dooku- Jedi Master.
