Transformers Rewatch Original Season 3A

Season Three Part One- The menu is old, wonky CGI with a slight quality improvement of Rodimus Prime. At least he gets some respect here. This season drops a lot of LORE and more importantly, also a lot of crazy. Therefore there will be more thoughts (and pictures for the extra crazy ones) per episode. This happens every time I go through a set of films or TV series. Part of it is them getting weirder as they need new ideas. I expect an equally large part is managing the ever increasing number of running gags and personal theories I cannot help interjecting.

Transformers Rewatch THE MOVIE!!

Transformers: The Movie
It’s weird how some characters who feel like they belong to the movie and Season Three don’t and others that don’t did come from the post time jump stories. Perceptor and Blaster feel like they should be introduced here. But they’re all over Season Two. (Though Blaster’s cassettes show up in the movie for the first time.) Meanwhile, Ultra Magnus feels like a Season Two classic Autobot and his debut is the film.

Digital Dad In the Boxing Gauntlet Created for Him

I came to a recent realization burning the week's stress away by playing Fight Night Champion, yet again, one weekend.

One of the main reasons I started videoing fight outcomes was to show my Mother the digital version of my Dad I put into the game.

One of the reasons I started running fighters through the "Rocky Gauntlet" was to have a series of varied boxer types to test out and adjust boxers I downloaded, or made... including the peak stats middleweight I created to be Digital Dad.

Dad was the first fighter I was able to win against Ivan Drago with, who until that point was undefeated by huge margins of points and knockouts.

And yet, I had never recorded Dad's progress through the gauntlet, or even filmed his victories against the characters of this franchise.

To get a little variation, and more cinematic videos, this time I did not set up to record the "instant replay" the game makes accessible after the match (which I am terrible at controlling the speed and picking an angle for). Instead, I snatched  up my phone after every knock down to ensure I recorded the end of each fight, with the far more impressive, "slow motion close up, including commentary in larger venues" replay that is built into the game play portion.

Naturally, after some normal performances when I reached this realization, on the following night when I was recording, much of the Artificial Rocky Film Cast performed far better than usual.
Either
A) They knew they were being filmed and upped their game
or
B) Because I'm still in a cast from Achilles Tendon surgery, I didn't have my usual video game night beverage with me, and there was some sort of Johnny Fever-esque reflex enhancement due to alcohol in my system the previous evenings I had played this game.

Either way- ON WITH THE FIGHTS

Transformers Rewatch G.I. Joe Interlude B

G.I Joe- The Revenge of Cobra 1-5
Hey! 1500 posts! Nifty! No wonder I don't get enough sleep!

Do I have to watch another one
Oh wait, this one has the people I wanted to see. And much cooler credits scenes.
Wild Bill flying in a copter! Flint and Lady Jaye in opening animation! Mutt!

Thunderbolts* Hits Well!

It seems the Marvel Cinematic Universe has learned a great deal from the Deadpool franchise.

Thunderbolts* is full of fun and snarky characters, has great action scenes, plus wild locations and events.

Transformers Rewatch G.I. Joe Interlude A

Hey, the Real American Heroes on Memorial Day, when we remember REAL American heroes. I'd like to take credit for planning this, but I feel my lack of ability to plan post timing is too well known at this stage.

New(ish) Mutants- NOT Through a Kids' Eyes

Well, that took a while didn't it?

I was intrigued by the idea of a horror superhero film when this was first announced to be released in 2018. Also, while I didn't collect the New Mutants comics themselves, I was always a fan of the group when they guest starred in stories I was reading.

Old School Xenomorphs!

Sure, the Alien prequel films were cool and scary... and weird.
But its nice to see the franchise returning to its roots, in two separate mediums.

First off, Alien Romulus.

Daredevil- Born Again, Again

Poor Mathew. The defining story in the comics for Daredevil was Frank Miller's "Born Again." This was a tale where The Man Without Fear lost EVERYTHING, (friends, job, law license, home, other stuff) and then battled his way back from the bottom.

Venom 3- Another One

I missed another Venom film in the theater. It happens. I feel these movies are a lot like Venom comics.

Heigh Hooooo-Boy!

Fine.

I don't usually do recent Disney Movie posts because of my obvious bias, but I'm gonna talk about Snow White... both of them.

What If: The Show Figured Out What Made the Best Episodes...

And then didn't stick the landing?

The What If show after three seasons finally grabbed on to the idea that the fun ones are the most enjoyable episodes. They followed that logic all the way through for the most part, then had a pointless, tragic, self sacrifice for the finale.

         S.O.S Dinobots
Wheeljack and Ratchet (Ambulance Minivan) create sentient life. No one is phased or even bats an electronic eye at this. Is that. Normal? Is that how Cybertronian reproduction works?  (Later on we will learn the answer is a resounding "NO")

Litany of Godzilla – Lost Legendarys (C)

Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire
2024

Sometimes I don't notice how much insane stuff happens in these films until I write them up like this.

This is truly a Kong story, but with proper deference to Godzilla as the King of Monsters.

Three years after their last fight, because they've finally started to "get it,"
we open on scenes of Kong and Godzilla with NO PEOPLE. WOO!

Transformers Rewatch Original Season 1A

Important note- Before I start making fun of these...
Because they deserve it, a great deal.
Know that as soon as the full rewatch is completed, I plan on watching them again, so I can fully focus on enjoying them without having to worry about taking notes.

More than Meets the Eye 1-3

In this pilot story Optimus Prime sounds even more like John Wayne than anywhere else, to the point of it being distracting. Glad Peter Cullen toned it down a bit. The opener on Cybertron with all the spacey looking alternate versions is the coolest bit of this introduction. We don’t get more Cybertron LORE for quite a while.

The Bronx Zoo, Always There For Us

The Bronx Zoo has always been there for me, and the rest of my family. It was one of Rosa and my first dates. It's a place that always feels like home.

We needed a break with some quiet time together, and, as always, the Zoo provided. The heavy traffic on the George Washington Bridge originally shown vanished by the time we reached it. Once we arrived at the Zoo, we had the place almost completely to ourselves. I don't think I've ever seen the Bronxdale Parking Lot that empty.

Speaking of needing a break, here's some random photos I took instead of any detailed prose. The phone transfer did something weird and I lost a few. Including one of the coolest pictures I've ever taken there. Alas.

Skeleton Crew -Star Wars a New Generation

Skeleton Crew is not your father's Star Wars... but it has the same tone and themes as your father's Star Wars, because it was made by your father.

Theoretically, this will make sense before I finish.

Transformers US Generation 1 Rewatch- Introduction

The Transformers cartoon was the lynchpin of my teenaged afternoons. Prior to that I began watching it when if first appeared on Sunday mornings, while syndicated animation was figuring out what to do with itself.
Note- I'm pretty sure it was Sunday morning, but I can't find a reference that doesn't say "Saturday Morning" or "Weekdays." Maybe Sunday was only G.I. Joe? Being a teenager that early in the morning on weekends led to grogginess, but syndication was also highly variable back then. Your mileage may vary.

Regardless- the main viewing was after school, frequently with friends.

Disneyland 2024- Day 6: May 17

The App Is Useless Except We Didn't Use It Today
But Pluto Picked A Favorite Family Member
And It Is Me So Ha

With no Park reservation we slept until 9:30 on our last day. It still felt as completely disorienting as getting up before seven did on the rest of the days. I had no idea why a text related to a mid-day meeting back at work showed up before I arose. Clearly a week was not enough for my biological clock to adjust to a three-hour difference, particularly when starting out (and, honestly, continuing) with almost no sleep.

Y'know, It's Hard Not To Like This, Okay - December 19, 2024

Due to Anabelle having an afternoon final the last possible day, I continued my trend of enjoying "other people's" shows at the most famous venue in this country. Rosa and I went to see Andrea Bocelli's 30th Anniversary tour the second night he was at Madison Square Garden. She had wanted to see him since before we'd met, and the timing, location and everything else had never worked out before. Because of the ticket magic she had conjured for Anabelle, we had a credit in Ticketmaster when this show was announced.

Litany of Godzilla – Lost Legendarys (A)

Kong: Skull Island
2017

This feeds into important ones later, meaning it earns this treatment without Godzilla, or other Toho creations. Not only that, it's a heck of a film! Or as Anabelle calls it "A Cinematic Masterpiece and One of My Favorite Movies Ever Made."
